Defender Jane Watson will remain captain of The Good Oil Tactix for the 2020 ANZ Premiership season.
The 29-year-old leads the side for her third season and will be supported by vice-captain Erikana Pedersen, who is set for a big return season having fully recovered from a ruptured ACL in the opening game of 2019.
Watson was a stand-out player once again last season which saw her rally together an injury-hit Tactix side while topping her year by becoming a world champion with the Silver Ferns at the Netball World Cup.
The Good Oil Tactix head coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek said Watson has proven herself as a true leader who is greatly respected.
“Jane sets extremely high standards within and genuinely leads by example on and off the court which has really helped us maintain a strong team culture,” she said.
“Erikana has a complimentary skill set to Jane and together they will form a strong leadership group.”
Watson said it was an honour to lead her side again as they look to push for another Finals Series appearance after missing out in 2019.
“We have a really strong squad going into this season so it’s exciting to see what we can go out on court and achieve together. It’s a real honour to lead the team again as captain.”
The Good Oil Tactix open their 2020 ANZ Premiership campaign against defending champions Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse at Stadium 2000 in Blenheim at 4.10pm on Sunday 15 March.
