The 2021 Good Oil Tactix dress design is based on our team values are epitomised in the whakataukī:
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.
My strength is not that of a single warrior but that of many.
This whakataukī reinforces that our individual strength does not come from ourselves alone, but our strength derives from the many.
It reminds us that collective effort necessary for a successful campaign and that the combined efforts of many are needed both on and off the court.
It also reinforces that while we individually come with our strengths we also bring the gifts, talent and strength of our whānau and ancestors.
Moreover, the individual patterns are reflective of different elements of who we are in the team:
Pūhoro – represents speed and agility
Mango pare – perseverance
Koru – growth
Riki Manuel (Ngāti Porou) is a renown Māori art consultant, master carver and tohunga in tā moko and whakairo.
