South Canterbury’s Nigel Davenport has been recruited to join The Good Oil Tactix’ Management Committee, starting immediately.

Davenport will join Jan Whitehead and Darren Wright in the Management Committee which was formed last year to provide ground support for the Tactix in Christchurch.

The Venture Timaru Chief Executive is a born and bred South Cantabrian with a passion for sport and was looking forward to working with the Management Committee.

“We were really impressed with the Tactix when they came to Timaru earlier this year and how they engaged with our local community,” he said.

“We are passionate about sport and netball in South Canterbury and we recognise the importance for fans of all ages to see their netball idols up close and personal. But I also believe from a business perspective, the opportunity to extend into the wider region is just as important.”

Davenport has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector and brings a varied set of business skills, knowledge and networks within South Canterbury.

He serves as a board member on both Sport Canterbury and Economic Development New Zealand, and is also Trustee of the Aoraki MRI Trust and of the Aoraki Sports Persons Charitable Trust.

The Good Oil Tactix General Manager Haidee Stratford said it was great to welcome Davenport into the Tactix family.

“Nigel has first-hand experience as a business owner along with various governance roles and involvement in community organisations which means we will have a significant voice in the South Canterbury region,” she said.

“Our goal is to ensure we engage with our fan base and business sector throughout the Tactix region.”
