The Trident Homes Tactix have been dealt an injury blow during the ANZ Premiership off-season with rising shooter Hannah Glen suffering a torn ACL and ruled out of next year’s league.
Glen was captaining Christchurch at this month’s Netball New Zealand Open Championships in Palmerston North when she suffered the knee injury, rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament.
The Tactix’ medical team confirmed the damage this week which rules the 21-year-old out of the 2023 ANZ Premiership.
Tactix coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek said she had been looking forward to working with Glen for her second contracted season with the side where she was to have joined Aliyah Dunn and Te Paea Selby-Rickit in the shooting circle.
“We’re devastated for Hannah,” she said. “She has been with us for a number of years having been a training partner with the Tactix before earning her first contract this year. She was working hard and continuing to make big gains in her game, and I couldn’t wait to see what she would bring to the Tactix in 2023.
“She is such a versatile shooter, able to cover both roles, so we are definitely going to miss her presence in the circle.”
Glen, who is a member of the New Zealand U21 team, made the step up as a fully contracted player for the Tactix this year playing in five matches of the ANZ Premiership.
“This news will just be sinking for Hannah, but we are here to support her in her rehabilitation and recovery, and we’ll be right beside Hannah during the journey ahead,” Delaney-Hoshek said.
The process to find a replacement player is now underway but Delaney-Hoshek said they would not rush the decision.
“We want to make certain that we find the right fit for our Tactix team, so we will be following a thorough process in the coming weeks.”
The Trident Homes Tactix open their 2023 ANZ Premiership campaign against the Stars in Auckland on 6 March.
